Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • Assessment Team: Inform adults of services available through the Literacy Service Center.
  • Circulation: Filling Holds: Find and process books and other materials to fulfill holds.
  • Circulation: Processing and Holds Shelving: Sort, check in and shelve books on hold for library customers.
  • Circulation: Shelving: Re-shelve items returned to the library and other tasks requested by supervisors.
  • College Prep Coach: Help a teen go to college!
  • Computer Help: Help bridge the digital divide by providing one-on-one assistance on basic computer and internet use, and word processing.
  • Conversation Circle Facilitator: Facilitate and plan conversational activities.
  • Homework Help: Work with school age children after school and possibly on the weekends answering homework help questions. Check your branch library for availability.
  • Liaison: Ensure volunteer conducts and communications between Library staff/Literacy Service Center.
  • Navigator: Work one on one with adults assisting in reaching various literacy goals.
  • Program Assistance: Help staff prepare and present programs for library customers.
  • Resource Specialist: Reviews and acquire Library materials.
  • Talking Book Library for the Blind: Help with Talking Book inspection and shelving
  • Teen Council: This is for 7th to 12th grade volunteers who want to help plan programs, select books, music and more, and help with other projects that benefit Fresno County teens. This is available at only a few locations. Visit for a location near you.
