"What is Reference?"
Reference Services
Reference Librarians at the Central Library can help you locate precisely
the information you need--when you need it, and in most cases, free of
charge. When you visit or telephone us, we can:
- help locate answers to specific questions; for example, a business mailing address, statistics on crime, or an illustration of a state flag.
- determine whether the Library holds a specific author or title or any material on a subject.
- help you borrow materials owned by libraries across the country.
- get you started on a term paper or report.
- find information in government publications.
- teach you to use the computerized catalog and other library finding tools.
- introduce you to the Internet and the WorldWideWeb.
- identify other agencies and organizations outside the Library which may be helpful.
