Funding for the Fresno County Library Literacy Program is provided in part by the California Literacy Campaign (CLC). When the CLC began in 1984, more than 90% of adult literacy services provided by existing programs in California were speakers of languages other than English. For this reason, the CLC was designed to reach those who were not being served - people who speak English but cannot read and write in English. The Fresno County Library Literacy Program fills this niche.
