How to Renew Books & Other Materials
You may now renew library materials over the phone (Telecirc) or over the internet. You may also learn what items are checked out to you and when they are due, list and/or cancel requests for books, learn what your fine balance is, and what items are overdue.
Things to remember about renewals
- You'll need the barcode number of the card on which the items were borrowed and the personal identification number (PIN) for that card. If you don't remember choosing a PIN number try the last four digits of your home phone number. If this doesn't work you'll have to call or visit one of the library branches for help.
- Items already overdue may not be renewed with either TeleCirc or over the Internet.
- Only one renewal per item. Once you have borrowed an item and renewed it once you must turn it back in.
- Some items may not be renewed at all - including most civil service test books and other short-loan items. Items on hold for someone else may not be renewed, even if there appear to be other copies available.
- When renewals are permitted the new due date will be figured from the date of renewal, not from the original due date - three more weeks for most books, books on tape, and music CDs; one more week for DVDs and most videocassettes.
