Purpose (as stated in the Friends' Bylaws):
It is recognized that the administration of the Fresno County Public Library is vested in the Board of Supervisors of Fresno County. The Friends of the Fresno County Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating interest in the Library, serving as an advocate for the Library in the community and providing funding for needs not met by government sources through fundraising, sponsoring public awareness events and serving as a vehicle to receive contributions to the Library in the form of gifts, endowments and bequests.

Activities Include:

  • Raising funds for special library projects and purchases (equipment, books, tapes, and films).
  • Channeling donations of time and money from individuals and organizations to the Library.
  • Advocating legislation to help libraries.
  • Providing volunteer assistance to the Library.
