Library Capital Campaigns

The Library is in the midst of implementing its master facilities plan titled The Heart of a Community: its Public Library. This ambitious plan, adopted by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors in 2003, calls for the replacement of 23 existing branches, construction of ten branches in communities that do not currently have branches, and the replacement of the Central Library downtown.

Since the adoption of the plan, libraries in Caruthers, Kerman, Laton and Mendota have been constructed. A new branch in Fowler is under construction and ground breaking is scheduled for early 2008 for Tranquillity, Orange Cove and Ivy/West Fresno. A site has been selected for the new Central Branch.
