Day Care Outreach/Bookmobile
Mission/Goal:
To expose preschool children at Day Care centers in Fresno County to exceptional
age-appropriate library resources and story programs.
Objectives:
- To introduce day care staff, children and families to the library as a valuable community resource.
- To improve literacy and listening skills in children using appropriate resources.
- To cultivate positive teaching methods in day care centers.
- To increase parental awareness and skills in reading to children.
- To contribute to life-long appreciation of language and reading.
Service:
- The Day Care Outreach Bookmobile visits day care centers throughout Fresno County four days per week over a period of 10 months.
- Children Librarians provide a 20-25 minutes story time each month incorporating the best in children’s literature with finger plays, rhymes, songs, and flannel board stories.
- Library staff also makes referrals to other library resources and programs, and other agencies.

Showcase Project
The project consists of a collection of theme-based literature
and activity kits suitable for preschoolers and kindergarteners, developed
by Children
Librarians. It’s a great storytime resource! To check-out these
