What is Doris Gates Room?

The Doris Gates Room of the Central Library houses the largest collection of children's materials of all the library branches and provides varied services for children, students, caregivers, and teachers. The Room is named for Doris Gates, a children's book author and former director of Children's Services at the Fresno County Public Library.

The Doris Gates Room offers a comfortable, kid-friendly environment designed for children through age 14, their caregivers, teachers, and others who are actively using children's materials or who are otherwise interested in services to this age group.
