The Fig Garden Friends mission, simply put, is to improve the library. The Fig Garden Library is a place we all love. Join us in telling others about all the library has to offer. We already have a wonderful library, but there is more we can do. The library has many needs that currently are not met by government funding. Help us raise money to meet those needs. Is there a book you are looking for that we don't have? Do you wish the library had more computers? Join us at our next meeting and tell us about your vision for the library.
Meetings featuring "Author Chats" during 2007 will be at 10 AM on the first Tuesday of each month at the library (except January, when the meeting will be on the 9th). Information as to the speaker and subject will be posted at the library and will be publicized in the"Around The Valley" column in the Fresno Bee and on the "Community Calendar" on KVPR, 89.3 (and we wish to acknowledge the great help that the Bee and KVPR have been to us this past year getting our information out).
The Fig Garden Friends have revised their plans for Saturday sales of donated books---from now on we will hold a sale each month, and we have instituted a pre-sorting scheme involving our members to improve both the presentation to the patrons and permit a more selective pricing policy. The first such sale will be on Saturday, February 17th, from 9 AM to 1 PM. The setting up of the sale will be on Friday, February 16th from noon to 4 PM. Members of the Fig Garden Friends who help set up the books for sale will have an advance opportunity to purchase books at that time.
Membership
The Friends of the Fig Garden Library is an affiliate of the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library. Annual dues for an individual membership in both organizations are $25. Ten dollars of that goes directly to the Fig Garden Friends. The other $15 benefits the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library. All membership dues are tax deductible.
